As we close out the decade here are some films you may have missed that I recommend catching up on.

2010: The Secret in their Eyes

 A Spanish-language Argentinian thriller that follows a retired government agent who reflects back on a homicide case that was never resolved.

2011: Attack the Block

This British sci-fi action movie includes a star-making performance from John Boyega.

            Also check out Take shelter, Terri, and The Descendants.

2012: Mud

Part of the Matthew Mcconaissance, this coming of age story has two boys helping a fugitive evade the authorities in the south.

2013: Short Term 12

Brie Larson shines as a counselor at an at-risk youth treatment center.

2014: What we do in the Shadows

This hilarious mockumentary follows a group of vampires living in New Zealand.

2015: Brooklyn

This earnest and intimate immigrant tale is sweet but not corny. Terrific performance from Saoirse Ronan.

2016: The Nice Guys

A buddy comedy that takes place in 1970’s Hollywood with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling as two detectives investigating a murder.

2017: Wind River

This somber thriller involves the death of a native-American girl on tribal land.

2018: Upgrade

A low-budget sci-fi movie that explodes with unique action scenes.

2019: Brittany Runs a Marathon

Equal parts inspirational and hilarious, a coming of age story with a wonderful message.
